Ranking Marvel’s Best
Top 10 Marvel Heroes – As Decided By Me
Marvel has been a huge presence in the comics industry for a long time now. That presence is only growing with their foothold on the movie industry. Marvel’s heroes are some of the most well known characters in the world. They have a deep cast to draw from, and they’ve flexed the strength of that depth with their movie universe. With this list, I’m ranking the top 10 marvel superheroes. Keep in mind that this is my top 10 Marvel heroes. That means I’m not ranking by strength or popularity, just my own personal opinion. I’m also taking both comics and movies into account, since they have both influenced my opinions towards these characters.
After you finish reading, I hope you’ll share your top 10. Tell me why I’m wrong, or why I’m right! Then, go check out Marvel’s biggest competitor and read my Top 10 DC Heroes. Now, let’s get down to it, starting with number 10.
10. Black Panther
T’Challa, a.k.a. Black Panther, is the King of Wakanda and the King of the Dead. Black Panther is actually a mantle that is passed down to each Wakandan King, but T’Challa is the most well known as the hero. Black Panther is a dangerous man. He’s an expert in hand-to-hand combat, and an expert tactician. Add on to that his genius level intellect, and all the wealth that comes with being King of a prosperous country, and you can understand why he is such a force. He can be a bit of a loner. His loyalty is to Wakanda first and foremost, which has caused him to butt heads with other heroes. Despite all of that, you can always count on him when he’s needed.
Deadpool’s popularity has never been greater. He’s unlike any other hero you’ll find. In fact, he’s not particularly heroic. Most of Marvel’s heroes find him to be a nuisance. He’s legitimately insane, though considering all he’s been through and the pain he constantly endures that comes as no surprise. Most people latch on to Deadpool because of his humor. He never takes anything seriously and constantly breaks the fourth wall. He’s obsessed with Spider-Man just like all the rest of us. Deadpool is special, that’s the best way to put it.
8. Ant-Man (Scott Lang)
Since this is my list, I get to choose which Ant-Man is on it. Scott Lang has always been one of my favorite Marvel characters. It’s hard to explain. Ant-Man is a serious hero, but it’s hard to take him seriously. Scott Lang barely takes himself seriously. It’s like a inside joke, and if you’re in on it then it is wonderful. At the same time though, it’s not a joke at all. Scott didn’t start out a hero. In fact, he started out a thief. His intentions were in the right place though. He did it all so he could pay for his daughter’s medical expenses. His good intentions would come out, and he would eventually find the straight and narrow to become a hero.
7. Doctor Strange
Stephen Strange was once a great surgeon. He was also a jerk. Then an accident happened that ruined his career as a surgeon and taught him a little humility. That’s how he became the Sorcerer Supreme. His journey to restore his hands took him on an adventure that he never expected. It showed him a world that he never knew existed. Trust me, it’s a good thing he knows it exists now because that world is terrifying. Oh, and he says a lot of weird stuff when he’s working his magic. It’s incredible.
The Ol’ Caknuckle Head. He’s the best there is at what he does, and what he does ain’t nice. Wolverine walks to the beat of his own drum. He plays by his own rules. Yet, somehow, he seems to end up on every superhero team imaginable. Wolverine is one of those heroes that stands out from the crowd. He’s a bit rough around the edges, and isn’t afraid to take a life. In fact, his kill count in comics is ridiculously high. Oh, and he has a new movie coming out this year, Logan. You should go see it.
Thor Odinson may be the most powerful hero in the Marvel universe, at least among beings that are actively out doing heroic things. Wielding his might hammer Mjolnir, he is nearly unbeatable. His power is only matched by his own faith and loyalty to his friends. Thor has done it all. He’s fought Frost Giants, and defended the earth from the biggest threats. He’s currently on a journey to rediscover himself after being deemed unworthy by Mjolnir. If one thing is certain though, it’s that Thor Odinson will never give up.
4. Kitty Pryde
You probably won’t see Kitty Pryde on many top 10 lists, unless it is X-Men exclusive. You would be even more hard pressed to find her in the top five. Kitty has long been my favorite X-Men character though. Part of the reason for that is because her power to phase through any object is my absolute favorite superpower, and she is very good at it. She worked her way up from student, to teacher. She was even Headmistress for awhile. She embodies the dream and vision of Professor X in a way few others have. Of course, there was that time that she sacrificed herself to save the earth from a giant bullet by merging herself with the bullet, causing it to pass through the earth. That’s awesome.
Spider-Man may very well be the most popular of all Marvel heroes. He is THE superhero for multiple generations. His story of tragedy turned to strength is one that inspires us all. Spider-Man is the everyman’s hero. Peter Parker, while bright and gifted in his own right, was just your every day guy. He wasn’t rich and famous. He wasn’t going to be a sports start. He was just a smart kid, making his way through life. This is part of the reason that Spider-Man is so loved, because we see pieces of ourselves in him.
You would be hard pressed to find someone who has experienced more personal tragedy than Matt Murdock. As a young boy, he lost his sight during an accident involving a chemical spill. Then, his father was murdered for not throwing a boxing match. Tragedy would be a constant in Matt’s life. However, the loss of his sight would increase the strength of his other senses, letting him see the world in a way we never could. He would grow up with a heart for justice. As an adult, he would become a crime fighting lawyer by day, and a crime fighting vigilante by night. Despite seeing the darkness of the world, he dives in to fight for what’s right. He is the man without fear.
1. Captain America
Steve Rogers is the flaming torch of truth and justice. He is the epitome of good. Recent developments in the comics have muddied that image a bit, but not enough to override his history as the ultimate hero. Cap is always ready to save whoever needs saving. He holds himself to a standard higher than most can hope to achieve. He’s the guy who defends those who can not defend themselves. He is everything that is a hero, and that’s why he is number one on this list.
There You Have It
That’s all for my list of the top 10 Marvel heroes. I’m sure that there were some surprises, and I’m sure that some of it was predictable. I’m even more sure that you probably disagree with me about at least one spot, so let me know! That’s the fun of it all, everyone’s top 10 is different. So, let me know which heroes you love and why! As always, thanks for reading and keep coming back for more.
